Here's why and what I'm doing next

On Friday I quit my full time job at Clari.
I said goodbye to the promised paycheck.
The structure of a 9-to-5.
The health insurance.
The security.
To be clear, Iām grateful for my time there.
I joined to become a better SaaS Head of Content. I wanted to learn from legendary leaders, and I definitely did.
Things like:
-How to create strategic narratives from Julien Sauvage
-How to be bold and think differently (aka like a pirate) from Christopher Lochhead
-How to āmanage upā, present to ELT, and dominate LinkedIn for CEOs with Andy Byrne.
This experience has made me more valuable in the future chapters of my career.
Few people get two successful roles owning content strategy at billion dollar SaaS companies. It was a solid run and Iām grateful for my time there.
But over the past couple months I realized that I wasnāt so much in the wrong role, but I wasnāt in the right one either. At least not anymore.
More specifically, I felt I wasnāt reaching my full potential.
And Iām an āall in or all outā kinda guy.
I thrive when Iām creating, building, and moving fast. Thatās when Iām my happiest, and as a result, doing my best work and making the biggest impact.
And that just wasnāt happening at the level I wanted at Clari.
It was clear that itās time for a change.
So Iāve decided to bet on myself (again)ā¦
Iām going all in on The Reeder
Iām turning my side hustle into my full time job.
I announced the news on LinkedIn, and got an unbelievable amount of positivity and encouragement from my audience and inner circle.

I might frame this tbh

Reading the comments from hundreds of friends and supporters filled my cup all the way up. And validated my decision.
Thank you.
This is a pivotal moment in my career and Iām excited to take āthe leap.ā
When I started The Reeder seven years ago, I was making $30/hour as a freelance writer.
Now itās a healthy 6-figure business. And I want to see how far I can take it.
Hereās what Iām cookinā upā¦
The Reeder has two primary business models: marketing consulting and a media company.
Marketing Consulting
Iām going to help SaaS startups build, grow, and scale their content strategy.
Helping marketers grow their audience, brand, and pipeline through content is my passion and what Iāve proven Iām best at. I love the challenge.
This will be the ācoreā business for the next 18 months.
I already have four retainer clients locked in with two openings left.

The long term goal is to build The Reeder into a highly profitable content powerhouse.
I want it to become the most valuable content marketing and strategy resource on the planetā for my audience (you) and for sponsors.

The Reed fam is moving to San Diego š
We move Monday, as in tomorrow (!)
Itās always been our goal. We love the city, the slower pace, the vibe, and itās where a lot of our family is.
Weāre excited for beach days, basketball leagues, zoo passes, and building our new community.
Shali and I are committed to building the most fulfilling lives right now, so figured why not just do one big swoop of change and knock it all out at once.
Weāre all the way in.
Last, last thing
You mightāve noticed I took a little break from this newsletter over the past couple weeks. Now you know why! I needed time to focus on this transition.
Hereās what you can expect moving forward:
